Back To School Dental Tips

Schedule Regular Dental Visit 

As summer break is coming to an end. Now is the best time to visit the dentist, especially if you and your children had came back from a summer vacation. Before school is in session remember to add schedule regular dental visit onto your "to do" check list. Nothing is worst than having an unexpected tooth ache or any other dental problems on the first day of school. 

Wear Mouthguard

Most kids are usually in sport activities or even if it's just their regular gym class. It's recommended to wear a mouthguard as a protective barrier while in physical conatact activities. At Dr.Patel's office we have seen patients come in for  unexpected emergencies due to an injury caused by a sport activity. It can cause alot of incovenience and discomfort for the patient. 

Drink Water

There are so many health benefits to drinking water. Ideally children should carry a water bottle with them throughout the day. Drinking water can help you stay hydrated and it can also help with washing away the bacteria in your mouth. Other benefits from drinking water is that it can prevent dry mouth and bad breath. 

Healthy Snacks

Snacking is part of most people diet,however there's a difference between bad and healthy snacking. Bad snacking is usually filled with high sugar,carbs, or extremely acid foods. With all these chemicals combined it can put people at higher risk of dental decay. Healthy snacking can be tasteful and fun for most children. Create healthy snacking at a young age. This practice will help your children get their taste buds used to healthy snacking. 

Better Homecare Routine

While school supplies are esstential for back to school shopping. Add new toothbrushes and other homecare dental hygiene product on the list. It's recommended to change your toothbrush every three months. Brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. Try to floss reguarly, this will help prevent gum disease and teeth decay between the teeth.
